Abstract
The independent curriculum has diverse intracurricular learning where content is optimized so students have enough time to explore concepts and strengthen competencies. Implementing an independent curriculum is expected to be a tool for recovery and a solution to educational problems after the pandemic. However, there is a difference between the expectations of implementing an independent curriculum and the reality of its implementation as seen from the problem of difficulties at SMKN 2 Tulungagung. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of an independent curriculum in the teaching and learning process in the Office Management and Business Services (MPLB) department at SMKN 2 Tulungagung. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing as well as data triangulation. Data validity is done through credibility, transferability, reliability, and confirmability tests. The results showed that implementing the independent curriculum in the teaching and learning process in the Office Management and Business Services (MPLB) department at SMKN 2 Tulungagung was effective even though there were still challenges, obstacles, and barriers.
