Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan High Order Thingking Skill Peserta Didik melalui Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning di Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Lolowau

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (PTK) aims to describe how efforts are made to improve students' Higher Order Thinking Skills through the Problem Based Learning Model in Class 8 of SMP Negeri 2 Lolowau. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. This Classroom Action Research (PTK) consists of 2 cycles. Cycle I was carried out on December 11-12 2024. Meanwhile cycle II was carried out on January 22-23 2024. The subjects in this classroom action research (PTK) were class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Lolowau with a total of 32 students. The results of the research showed that in the first cycle, the student learning test scores showed that of the 32 students who were the research subjects, there were 19 or 59% who got scores in the poor category, and 13 students or 41% who got scores in the good category. This means that, after implementing the problem-based learning (PBL) model, the HOTS results of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Lolowau in cycle I experienced an improvement but had not yet reached classical completion. Therefore, researchers continued research in cycle II. The student HOTS results obtained in cycle II were 32 students who were research subjects, showing that 100% of students achieved completeness with an average score of 81.7. This shows that the application of the problem-based learning (PBL) model with the improvements made after implementing cycle I has increased and has achieved classical completeness. From the overall results, it can be seen that the classroom action research carried out from the initial conditions to the end of cycle II showed an increase in both activities and Higher Order Thinking Skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Lolowau.
